In the Red

In the Red

In the Red

On air: Fridays from 8 pm - 10 pm

Hosted by: DJ Rorshock

When sound equipment is operated beyond its limits, needles on meters move all the way to the edge, into the red zone, and it's said to be operating in the red. Sound quality degrades and we often hear clipping, scratches, pops, or just noise. "In the red" also means in debt, and it's a color that has symbolized revolutionary movements throughout history. "In the Red" will play gritty, funky, dirty grooves; noise; poetry & spoken word; film fragments; roots reggae; dub; free jazz; gospel; and music from around the world.

About Your Host

My first albums were "Thriller" and "Zenyatta Mondatta" that my dad dubbed onto cassette for me from vinyl. I expanded my musical horizons digging through my parents' records: Weather Report, Joni, Jimi, Stevie, Stanley Clark, the Dead ... My first time ever on the radio I played João Gilberto's "Girl from Ipanema" and read a PSA about bad breath. Looking forward to giving it a fresh shot.
